Full Description

A post medieval gravel pit to the southeast of Merley Park is visible on current Lidar imagery (1).

The feature is 47.7m long by 41m wide. It is recorded as 'Old Gravel Pit' on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The eastern end of the feature appears to be incorporated into a World War Two military site by 1941 (MDO41092).

The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
