Full Description

Ditched linear features to the west of Knighton Farm are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise a series of narrow rectilinear ditches, set broadly parallel to each other at their centre; the external and longer linear forming an irregular enclosure adjacent to a historic field boundary to its west (2).

The form of the features suggests possible drainage ditches of probable post medieval date but they are situated in proximity to a documented late prehistoric settlement and field system (MDOS 6966 and 6968) and may possibly be features associated with these.

The majority of the site is under Knighton Golf Course and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
