A possible post medieval extractive pit on Parley Common is visible as a shallow irregular depression on 1940s aerial photographs.
The feature is up to 60m long by up to 25m wide. It is recorded in outline on the OS 1st Edition map (2).
The site is part of Fernsown Golf Course on current Google Earth imagery. The feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted from 1940s aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
