Full Description

An early 20th Century quarry to the northeast of Sleight is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The quarry is sub-oval in form and is approximately 132m long by 96m wide. The OS 1st Edition map shows the site as historic fields, cut by the railway line to the south (2). Current Lidar imagery suggests the quarry was enlarged during the 20th Century and the scarped edges are still visible (3).

The site is a scarp yard on current Google Earth imagery. The features were digitally plotted from 1940s aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
