Full Description
A probable gravel pit to the east of Sleight is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (RAF 1946).
The gravel pit extends over an area approximately 203m long by 160m wide. The feature is not recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, although there are two gravel pits, or old gravel pits recorded by this map within 200m to the east (2). The gravel pit is therefore probably later 19th century to early 20th century in date.
The site is largely under housing on current Google Earth imagery, except for the extreme west side, which is under trees. The features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
