Full Description
An area of post medieval extractionon open ground to the southwest of Corfe Mullen is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1-2).
The features comprise linear banks and scarps extending over an area approximately 125m long by 90m wide. The extraction appears to be relatively shallow surface extraction, probably associated with post medieval gravel extraction. The features are situated on open rough ground and a trackway extends into the area from the west (1-2).
The site is under the Corfe Mullen Clay Pit on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
