Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features at Corfe Hills, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1-2).
The features comprise a series of interlinking linear and curvilinear ditches on an area of open ground at Corfe Hills and bordering a strip of historic fields along the valley floor at Rushcombe Bottom; recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (3). The features are considered likely to be historic field boundaries and trackways of probable post medieval date.
The site is largely under Broadstone Golf Course on current Google Earth imagery but some of the features are still visible under scrub and vegetation. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
