Summary

Two large conjoined banked enclosures are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1954 on rough-ground at Slop Bog, Ferndown. The features are marked on the OS 1st edition map as well as the modern mapping. They are no longer in use and considered to be part of a wider field system which may be of post medieval, medieval or even earlier origin. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

Full Description

Two large conjoined banked enclosures are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1954 on rough-ground at Slop Bog, Ferndown (1). The features are marked on the OS 1st edition map (2) as well as the modern mapping. They are no longer in use and considered to be part of a wider field system which may be of post medieval, medieval or even earlier origin. The features are still visible on lidar imagery (3) and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
