Full Description
A large elongated rectilinear enclosure (450m by 95m) is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1954 on rough-ground to the south west of King George's Playing Field, Ferndown. Fragments of an internal system of smaller fields are visible. The enclosure is marked on the 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map published around 1888 as well as the modern mapping. It is no longer in use and considered to be part of a wider field system (MDO41714) to the north which may be of medieval or even earlier origin. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
