Monument record MDO41928 - Medieval settlement south of Water Lane, Durweston

The earthworks of settlement shrinkage are visible on aerial photographs taken in 2005. A number of banks define individual plots on the south side of Water Lane and further evidence of settlement shrinkage can be seen to the east of Knighton Dairy. Some of the other earthworks in the vicinity may relate to field boundaries. The linear earthworks are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.

The earthworks of settlement shrinkage are visible on aerial photographs taken in 2005. A number of banks define individual plots on the south side of Water Lane, centred on ST 8607 0878. Further evidence of settlement shrinkage can be seen to the east of Knighton Dairy at ST 8621 0829. Some of the other earthworks in the vicinity may relate to field boundaries.<1-3.

The linear earthworks are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery [5-6] and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.
