‘(25) CULTIVATION REMAINS. … Nothing is known of the date of enclosure of the open fields of Stock Gaylard but it had taken place before the 18th century, when the park at Stock Gaylard House was laid out. Ridge-andfurrow of these fields remains in the park (e.g. at 721132) and further traces can be seen on air photographs; the ridges are 6 yds. to 8 yds. wide and are arranged in butting furlongs.’
