Full Description

A half destroyed type 22 pillbox situated on the pedestrian level crossing approximately 300 yards east of Crockway farm. British rail had deemed that it obstructed the view along the railway line for any pedestrians wishing to cross and hance they have sliced the structure completely in half.

However, remaining half gives detailed view of the dimensions and materials used in type 22 pillbox construction for this area. Walls 2,3 and 4 remain intact with half of the internal anti-ricochet wall. All are 13" thick and are totally brick. Concrete roof is reinforced with half inch iron rod set into 13 inches of concrete. <1-3>
