'Occupation debris from a lathe-turned shale armlet industry has been found in a field called Egliston Mead near Tyneham village, probably on Wealdon Beds. In 1856 J H Austen examined part of a site thought to cover an acre; many turned armlet cores of Calkin's class 'A' were found scattered in black earth, with a piece of an armlet and a few sherds. The site, about a mile inland from Worbarrow Bay, is possibly Chapel Close (89508050) 'Egglestone Little Mead' on the Tithe map, 1840) or its neighbour 'Egglestone Great Mead' to W.'
