Full Description
An oval pit about 7 feet by 4 feet by some 4 feet deep, described as a Neolithic dug-out hut or pit dwelling, was found in 1937 in the same gravel-pit as that where the Romano-British kiln was exposed. 'In the occupation layer' at the bottom of the pit were numerous fragments of Neolithic 'A' pottery and some 200 flints, mostly cores and flakes but including a few knives, a scraper and a fabricator. <1> <2>
