Summary

Possible Iron Age/Romano British field system present within a small area of Monmouth's Hill, Milton Abbey Park. The remains of a field system of probable prehistoric date are visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

Centred at ST 79090207. Within a small area of Monmouth's Hill, there are a number of irregular scattered scarps, which suggest a field system of Iron Age/Romano British type. The denseness of the surrounding plantation does not allow the full extent of the system to be defined. <1>

The remains of a field system of probable prehistoric date are visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project. The features cover an area of over 7 hectares (EA 2023).
