Full Description

SZ0771890452. Strathaven is a large house built in the 1920¿s; until the late 20th century it was known as Strathavon. It is a two-storey building with stuccoed walls and a hipped roof of blue and green glazed tiles. The principal façade has a two storey portico entrance bay, with shallow canted bays either side. There is a flat-roofed two storey extension to the left hand of this elevation. The garden (south) facade consists of three large window openings on the ground floor, with a balcony and sun terrace above. To the right is a single storey addition, probably originally a conservatory or winter garden, which was added in the mid 20th century. Internally the building retains its original staircase. The house was converted into maisonettes around 1975. It is typical of the diluted and standardised vernacular revival and Arts and Crafts styles of the 1920s and 1930s. <1>
