Full Description

SZ 07 93. During 1978 a survey of the earthworks on Talbot Heath was undertaken, some 40 features being recorded. Three main periods were recorded:
1. Enclosures shown on an early 19th century map, and hollow-ways

2. An undated earlier period of enclosure

3. Bronze Age round barrows (see SZ 09 SE 58)

Trial excavations were conducted near Fern Barrow (SZ 09 SE 33) in an area later destroyed by a radio aerial, but these were negative. Full report in Poole Museum Site Archive PM 29. <1>
