Monument record MDO4374 - Bowl barrow, one of the Deverel Down Group, Milborne St Andrew

A Bronze Age bowl barrow. In 1970 this monument was reported as being much disturbed. The site is visible as an earthwork mound on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project.

'A' - A grass covered bowl barrow, 17.0m diameter and 1.8m high, flattened on top with sides irregularly spread, apparently by excavation. There is a surrounding ditch 2.0m wide and 0.2m deep. <2>

'A' - (32) - SY 82169911. Bowl barrow, 55ft diameter and 5ft high, much disturbed with traces of a ditch. A cut has been made through the centre and recently the north side has been quarried for chalk. Grinsell lists all three barrows as bowl-type. <3-4>

'A' SY 82169910. Bowl barrow under grass in arable, but not ploughed. Diameter 16.0 metres, height 1.8 metres. There are now no visible traces of a ditch. … 'A' and 'B' resurveyed, and 'C' Surveyed, at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <5>
