Full Description
An area of post medieval water meadow to the east of Tarrant Rawston is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery [1-2]. The water meadow extends for a distance ofover 1280m along the River Tarrant, to the northeast and southeast of Tarrant Rawston, comprising a linked system of channels and sluices, forming bedworks. A further area of water meadow to the northeast in Tarrant Monkton (MDO43823) may be a continuation of this feature. The main water channels and sluice system is recorded on the OS 1st Edition 1:2500 map. Some of the features are no longer visible on current lidar imagery.
The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
