Full Description

Parish Church of St. Andrew, Bloxworth built of various materials including flint, carstone and ashlar. The reset late 12th century south doorway to the nave and the early crosshead in the vestry suggest the existence of a church here by the end of the 12th century. The west tower is of the 14th century and the nave was partly or wholly rebuilt at the same time, although the south wall was re-faced and the north wall rebuilt in the late 17th century. The north annexe or `Savage Pew' is also of late 17th century and the south porch appears to have
been built or rebuilt about this period. The south porch was heavily restored and the chancel, with probably 16th century origins, was rebuilt during the general restoration of the church in 1870, the vestry was added at the same time. <2>
