Full Description
A ditched linear trackway is visible as cropmarks crossing fields to the northeast of Tarrant Rawston on an aerial photograph dated 1995 [1]. The features extend northwards for 120m along the east side of a field bordering the west side of Hogstock Coppice, turning north westwards for a further 240m, crossing two fields and running along the northeast side of a later prehistoric curvilinear enclosure (MDO44314). The feature may be associated with a wider later prehistoric field system (NRHE Hob UID 209464) and may be of Iron Age to Roman period date, although a later, perhaps post-medieval, origin is also possible. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
