Summary

Several areas of shallow extraction are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery to the north east end of Hillcombe Coppice, Shillingstone. The features are considered to be the result of surface extraction (possibly peat or turf cutting) and cover an area of 0.6 hectares. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project.

Full Description

Several areas of shallow extraction are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery to the north east end of Hillcombe Coppice, Shillingstone. The features are generally rectilinear and the largest is over 0.3 ha in size. They are considered to be the result of surface extraction (possibly peat or turf cutting) and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project.
