Summary

A probable First World War refuse destructor station is partially visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1947 but subsequently has been levelled by ploughing. The site comprises a bank which defines a ring measuring 3m in diameter. The site is marked as "Destructor C" on a map of Blandford Naval Encampment and is therefore probably associated with converting area C of the camp's refuse into power.

Full Description

A probable First World War refuse destructor station is partially visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1947 but subsequently has been levelled by ploughing. The site is centred at ST 9337 0877 and comprises a bank which defines a ring measuring 3m in diameter. The site is marked as "Destructor C" on a map of Blandford Naval Encampment and is therefore probably associated with converting area C of the camp's refuse into power. <2>
