Full Description
A large post medieval sand pit to the east of Sandpit Farm, Lytchett Matravers, is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The feature is within an area of sand, silt and clay geology and is documented on the OS 1st and 2nd Edition maps as a sand pit and old sand pit respectively [2, 3]. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. The feature is still visible as shallow earthworks on 2022 Google Earth imagery [4].
