Summary

An area of parallel ridged cultivation marks on the south side of Castle Farm Road, Lytchett Matravers is visible as faint earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs. The features may be those of the remnants of an early 20th century orchard shown at this location on the OS 3rd Edition and a5 Epoch maps. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

An area of parallel ridged cultivation marks on the south side of Castle Farm Road, Lytchett Matravers is visible as faint earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1, 2]. The features may be those of the remnants of an early 20th century orchard shown at this location on the OS 3rd Edition and a5 Epoch maps [3, 4]. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.They are no longer visible on 2021 APGB imagery.
