Full Description
Parallel banked linear features are visible to the east of Lytchett Matravers as cropmarks and earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1, 2]. The features align with the historic field pattern and divide the historic fields to create a series of narrow rectilinear N-S aligned holdings, similar to those on the north side of the main road as survived in 1946/1947 [1, 2]. They are considered likely to be historic field boundaries of potentially medieval to post medieval origin. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
