Summary

A later Prehistoric linear dyke is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s but has subsequently been ploughed level. The dyke comprises a linear ditch which measures between 7m and 9m wide and extends in an arc roughly WSW / ENE over a total distance of 110m. The dyke extends up the ridge and roughly parallel to another dyke recorded around 50m to its north. Very slight earthworks situated around 220m east suggest the dyke may have continued in this direction. The dyke had been levelled by ploughing on aerial photographs taken in 1953.

Full Description

A later Prehistoric linear dyke is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s but has subsequently been ploughed level. The dyke is centred at ST 9528 1098 and comprises a linear ditch which measures between 7m and 9m wide and extends in an arc roughly WSW / ENE over a total distance of 110m, between ST 9522 1097 and ST 9532 1101.

The dyke extends up the ridge and roughly parallel to the dyke recorded as ST 91 SE 249 (UID: 1481375) which is situated circa 50m to its north. Very slight earthworks situated circa 220m east suggest the dyke may have continued in this direction. The dyke had been levelled by ploughing on aerial photographs taken in 1953. <1-2>
