Full Description

A Roman stone or marble mortarium is shown at Langton Matravers (SY 9978) on a map entitled 'Purbeck Marble in Roman Britain' drawn by MPBW in connection with G.C. Dunning's work of 1948; a resume of which is published in Arch. News Letter Vol 1 No 11 1949. A photographic copy of the map is held in Dorset County Museum (Photo ref. Y431/1) according to Beavis. No other reference to this site could be found. <1>
