Full Description

The fossilised skull of a turtle belonging to the reptilian order of Chelonia was found in the Middle purbeck beds (Jurassic period) of Swanage (SZ 0380) by a Swanage quarryman circa 1908. It was presented to Dorset Country Museum. <1>
