Full Description

According to the corporation records, Trinity School was erected as a new building about the year 1623 to train boys for the free school to which it was subordinate (1). It was refounded in 1623 having existed prior to the Grammar School of 1579 (2).
The datestone of 1569 placed in the Grammar School, probably belonged to Trinity School which was built by the townsmen and perished in the fire of 1613. It was rebuilt in 1618 (3). (2,3)

(SY 69179078) I have spoken to a man whose father was headmaster of the school and I have an old print which shows its position.
It was completely taken down many years ago, but was a free school: Blue Coat (a).

Modern houses occupy the site. No trace of antiquity was found. (4)
