Full Description
The cistern was said by the landowner to have been filled-in, although running water could be heard. Archaeological investigation by the Shaftesbury & District Archaeological Group in June 1975 showed the cistern to be constructed of brick and rendered (presumably internally?). It was 15 ft, 6 in. long, 10 ft. 10 in wide, and 6 ft. 6 in. deep from the centre of its roof, which had a vaulted rise of about 1 ft.
