Summary

Linear ditched features to the southeast of Mapperton, Sturminster Marshall,are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are considered likely to be post medieval drainage ditches and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

Linear ditched features to the southeast of Mapperton, Sturminster Marshall,are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The features comprise two sraight linears on a SE-NW axis and a longer zig zag ditch in the southern corner of the field. They are considered likely to be post medieval drainage ditches and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. The features are no longer visible on available Google Earth imagery.
