Full Description
Banked and ditched linear features on the south side of West Morden, are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The features comprise narrow and broadly parallel linear ditches and banks that form a series of narrow linear plots within two fields, possibly extending into a further field to the south. They are located on the southwest side of an area of shrunken medieval village (MDO7811) and are considered likely to be field boundaries of probable medieval date, possibly forming part of a medieval strip field. A trackway of probable post medieval date truncates several of the field boundaries in the southernmost/middle field; this is still visible on 2021 APGB imagery, although the likely field boundaries are not.
The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
