Summary

Cottage built as a single range in 1652 and altered in the 18th century and in the early 19th century when the building was divided into separate dwellings. The house is built of stone rubble with a slate and tile roof.

Full Description

<1> Royal Commission on Historical Monuments England, 1952, An Inventory of Historical Monuments in the County of Dorset, Volume I (West) (Monograph). SDO97.

'The following monuments, unless otherwise described, are of the 17th century and of two storeys; the walls are of rubble and the roofs are thatched or covered with modern materials. Some of the buildings have exposed ceiling-beams and original fireplaces. … (6) House, 240 yards S.S.W. of (4), retains an original stone window of three lights with a label. One kneeler of the N.E. gable is dated 1652. A small Bridge, N. of the house, is a rubble structure of one span. It may date from the 18th century or earlier.'
