Monument record MDO47276 - Kiln, Toller Porcorum

Summary
Remains of a small updraught Suffolk-type kiln on Forestry Commission land south of the Bridport Branch Railway. It was working in around 1888 and is believed to have started in 1857 when railway construction work discovered a deposit of suitable clay. It was closed circa 1914. The kiln has iron doors to the firehole, which is unique in Dorset. The associated brickworks lay immediately to the south of the kiln.
