Summary

A Mesolithic occupation site was excavated 1970 at Mother Siller's Channel in Christchurch Harbour. The site was in use some time after 5000 BC. Two trenches were dug and a total of 368 artifacts were recovered, the vast majority being waste flakes.

Full Description

SZ 16859181. A Mesolithic occupation site was excavated at Mother Siller's Channel in Christchurch Harbour. The site was in use some time after 5000 BC, when the sea was some distance from the present site. Two trenches were dug and a total of 368 artifacts were recovered, the vast majority being waste flakes.
