Full Description
(SY 9282). A round barrow "near the lime kiln" on Creech Hill was excavated by the Rev J H Austen about 1856.
It was 97 paces in circumference by about 4 feet high and contained three primary contracted inhumations, one with a trepanned rounded from a child's skull, within a central flint cairn. There were also two secondary extended inhumations.
Grinsell says this barrow might be the one near the old chalk pit on Stonehill Down (SY 98 SW 6).
The Royal Commission suggest it is the barrow on Creech Barrow hill (SY 98 SW 7).(1-3)
