Full Description
An irregular area of hollows and depressions on the south side of Dogbury Plantation, Buckland Newton, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. An oval irregular feature at the western end of the area is recorded on the OS 1st Edition map as a gravel pit, the extent of extraction indicated on a 1948 aerial photograph being much greater [2, 3]. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
