A concentration of sub circular hollow features to the west of Alton Pancras are visible as earthworks on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. One of the features is recorded as a chalk pit on the OS 1st Edition map [2]. The other features are also considered likely to be post medieval chalk pits and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
