Full Description
A small rectilinear enclosure associated with several ditched and banked linear features to the south of Up Cerne are visible as cropmarks on a 1971 aerial photograph [1]. The enclosure is formed of a 1m wide linear ditch, just off square, around 25m by 25m with a possible entrance on the north side. Further ditched linears extend off the east and south sides. To the southwest of the enclosure are several wider linear banks, which might be associated, perhaps part of a small field system. The features are considered likely to be later prehistoric, potentially Iron Age to Roman, in origin (based on morphology), and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
