Full Description

Areas of parallel ridged and ditched cultivation features in a field to the southeast of Little Aldermore Coppice, Buckland Newton, are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The features are broadly parallel in an area of coppicing where the tree cover is more naturalised rather than planned. As such, they might be those of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project. The features are no longer visible on Environment Agency lidar imagery [2].
