Full Description
Banked and ditched linear features within the grounds of Alton Pancras Manor House on the west side of Alton Pancras are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. [1, 2, 3]
The features are of uncertain origin but could potentially be of medieval date, perhaps associated with part of the former open field, or an area of shrunken settlement assocaited with the manor house. Alternatively they could be later garden features. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
