Full Description
Banked and ditched linear features on the south side of Smacam Down, Cerne Abbas, are visible as earthworks on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. The features are regular and narrow and parallel to each othjer on a NW-SE axis. They appear to be truncated by trackways of which one is shown on the OS 1st Edition historic map. They might be field boundaries or perhaps cultivation marks of possible medieval to post-medieval date, although an earlier origin is also possible. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
