A group of old quarries are marked on the OS 1st edition map on Cottage Down, Piddletrenthide. They are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and were digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project. They considered likely to be chalk pits and are part of a wider group of pits scattered across the Down. [1-2].
