Summary

A post medieval quarry is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery to the north of Saunder Farm, Mappowder. It is associated with the lime kiln described in MDO4265. It was digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

A post medieval quarry is marked on the OS 1st edition map to the south of Castle Lane, Buckland Newton (1). It is associated with a lime kiln (described in MDO575). The quarry was much expanded in the early 20th century and is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery (2). It covers an area of over 2.7 hectares and was digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
