Summary

Bank and ditched field boundaries are visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery in fields to the west of Lower Thurnwood Farm, Mappowder. The features are potentially of medieval or post medieval date although an earlier prehistoric origin is possible. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project; they cover an area of 16 hectares and are associated with a possible settlement recorded in MDO49297.

Full Description

Bank and ditched field boundaries are visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery in fields to the west of Lower Thurnwood Farm, Mappowder. The features are potentially of medieval or post medieval date although an earlier prehistoric origin is possible. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project; they cover an area of 16 hectares and are associated with a possible settlement recorded in MDO49297.(1-2)
