Summary

Fragments of an extensive field system are visible as soilmarks on aerial photographs and low earthworks on lidar imagery in the wide valley bottom running westwards from Milton Abbey to Crown Farm, Hilton. The boundaries may be of prehistoric origin with medieval reuse, they cover an area of over 42 ha and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

Fragments of an extensive field system are visible as soilmarks on aerial photographs and low earthworks on lidar imagery in the wide valley bottom running westwards from Milton Abbey to Crown Farm, Hilton. The boundaries may be of prehistoric origin with medieval reuse, they cover an area of over 42 ha and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
