Summary

A collection of worked stone tools and flakes, including material of possible Mesolithic date. Collected by S F Creamer of Mannington, Holt, and including possible Mesolithic tranchet picks, a plano-convex knife of possibly Neolithic or Early Bronze age date and prehistoric fabricator, scrapers and flakes.

Full Description

Tranchet picks, fabricator, plano-convex knife, many scrapers and flakes. In the Collection of the late S F Creamer of Mannington [Centred at SU 06220561] <1>

The Creamer collection is in the possession of E W Jones who has no information as to the area where the finds were made. Mr Jones produced the Creamer collection which includes the items referred to in <1>. The area, situated on a slight ridge, abounds with flint but no artifacts were observed. The authority in <1> was not contacted. No further siting evidence was obtained. <2>

SU 060 050. A Mesolithic axe and tranchet axe were found at Burn's Lane (sic), Mannington. In Red House Museum, Christchurch. (OS 10560 1970 published entry in Burt's Lane). <4>
