Summary

Pair of late sixteenth and early seventeenth century cottages, originally one house. Walls part timber-framed with brick infil and part rebuilt in brick. Thatched roof with brick chimney stacks.

'Monuments (41-44) … St. Margaret's Hospital, a group of single-storeyed almshouses, stands close to the Chapel of St. Margaret (1) and probably occupies the site of a mediaeval leper hospital (Hutchins III, 247).
