Summary
A collection of Mesolithic flint tools and flint working waste, including cores, blades, microliths and waste flakes, recovered from spoil heaps during construction of the Wimborne By-pass. Although the material had been moved, circumstances suggested that it had come from very close by. It was interpreted as evidence of a flint-working site in the near vicinity.

Full Description
During construction of the Wimborne By-pass 1980-1, a Mesolithic site at SZ 004 994 was accidentally destroyed. However, almost all of the artefacts were deposited in a spoil heap a four metres away. Over 400 flint artefacts have been recovered and tabulated providing a record of a microlith culture in the area.
